OLD WARSHAM
A short distance south stands the colonial jail of Prince Edward County, built about 1755; the courthouse was near by. The British Cavalryman, Tarleton, raided here in July, 1781. Here Patrick Henry made a great speech against the ratification of the United States Constitution, 1788. Washington was here on his southern tour, June 7, 1791.
