LOVINGSTON
This place became the county seat of Nelson when it was formed from Amherst in 1807. It was named for James Loving, Jr., who gave the land for the courthouse, built in 1808-09. The town was incorporated in 1807 and again in 1871, and deincorporated in 1938.
