BETHEL CHURCH
Two miles west, the first chruch was built by Colonel Robert Doak in 1779. Captain James Tate, and elder, led in the Battles of Cowpens and Guilford Courthouse (1781) a company drawn mainly from this church. In the churchyard 23 Revolutionary soldiers are buried. The present building was erected in 1888.
