Marker text: KITTIEWAN AND DOCTOR RICKMAN

Two miles south is Kittiewan, mid-eighteenth century manor house. Here lived Doctor William Rickman. From 1776 to 1780 he was director and chief physician of the continental hospitals in Virginia.

Erected by the Medical Society of Virginia, 1977 by authority of Charles City County.
