MD-017 Nicholas Ruxton Moore (1756-1816)

He commanded ÒBaltimore Light DragoonsÓ during the Revolution, attaining rank of Captain. He took active part in suppression of Whiskey Rebellion in 1794, and that year purchased ÒBosleyÕs Adventure,Ó a 350 acre farm west of RolandÕs Run (north of present Lake Roland). Member of State Legislature 1801Ð1802, he served in Congress 1803Ð1811 and 1813Ð1815. As a Lieutenant Colonel at outbreak of War of 1812, he was appointed Commandant of 6th Regiment Cavalry District of Maryland. His grave near Circle and Ruxton Roads is no longer marked.
