French "Impressionist" master whose mother and grandmother were born in New Orleans. Painted many famous subjects on a visit here in 1872-1873 at Musson Home on Esplanade. His "Portrait of Estelle" bought by Delgado Museum.

Erected by the Louisiana Tourist Development Commission, 1975.
